Excellent Seawater Resistance
We conducted a test for Bulwark™ BMC™ on steel materials fully submerge into the sea water. After 6 and 12 months of observation intervals, the portian coated with BMC™ is still in perfect shape however the portion coat with conventional paint has already drop off and the exposed steel is already rusted. Another similar test is conducted on a wooden plank coated by Bulwark™ BMC™ and the result shows that BMC™ bonds perfectly with the coated object. BMC™ isolate the wooden plank from any physical contact with seawater. Dirt on both tested object was washed away easily with water.
Excellent Bonding Strength
25 Months (Aug 2016 - Sep 2018) Test Result
We conducted a test in August 2016 (Photo A) on a 250ft barge that was carrying container cargo. The purpose of such test was to determine BMC™ bonding strength and resistance to seawater. I n November 2017 (Photo B), we took the below photo on our 3rd round of inspection after 16 months of daily exposure to seawater, BMC™ is still intact with the coated object. We did another inspection on September 2018 (Photo C) and after 25 months of application, the coated area is still intact to protect the underlying steel plate from any corrosion. Such test result can safely concluded that BMC™ indeed has very high bonding strength with steel materials and also provide excellent seawater resistance properties. By applying BMC™ on the steel vessel it provide excellent protection to the steel from seawater corrosion thus preserving the life span of the steel plate effectively.

Test for Strength, Toughness and Flexibility
Bulwark™ BMC™ is coated on a cylinder block to test for its strength, toughness and flexibility using a hydraulic press. The height of the cylinder block stood at 15cm and is being compressed to 8cm using the hydraulic press as shown above. The BMC™ is able to hold the cylinder block intact, without any crack line during the testing process. Slight crack lines were then identified when the compressor continues to apply additional force after the coated cylinder reaches 8cm. The result from the above concluded that BMC™ strength, toughness and flexibility are superior and all these properties are absent from the conventional paints available in the market.
Application on Wooden Vessel
One of the biggest threat to wooden boats has to be the sea barnacles which also cause irreparable damages to the hull of the vessel once the painting has fall off. We thus identify a huge potential market in the fishing and wooden boat industry and we go on to conduct test of Bulwark™ BMC™ on wooden vessel. In the illustration above, we apply BMC™ on the deck of a wooden fishing vessel in 2018 and has acheive very positive feedback and customer satisfaction. After more than 6 months of application, result shows that BMC™ bonds very well with the wood and provide very good protection for the vessel.
Fire is also one of the worst threat for wooden vessel. Imagine the scenario that a wooden vessel is caught on fire in the middle of the ocean can be very fatal. The most common cause of fire come from the engine room of the vessel. The engine room is filled with spill oil & lubricants and all these product are highly flammable and once there is a spark, the wooden vessel will be burnt down very fast as illustrated by the images here. The fishing boat was ignite and the center hull was burn down very fast. However, if we apply BMC™ to the interior walls of the engine room, this will solve the problems greatly since BMC™ is a fire - resistance product certified by ANZ standrd. This give the crew the necessary time to put out the fire by water before serious mistake occurs. Moreover, BMC™also able to protect the vessel wooden plank from absorbing the spill oil and lubricant and at the same time helps to waterproof the vessel, making maintenance much more easily. It also act as a cover protection of the exterior wooden planks to prevent sea water in contact with the wooden planks, enhance the lifespan of the plank.
We apply Bulwark™ Marine Coatings (“BMC™”) on our first steel vessel, Tg, YKP Panda in December 2017 (vessel on the right). And 9 months in the water, we make observation on the coated vessel and the result is very rewarding for the owner. The coated vessel exterior coating is still fully intact and vessel is very well protected. However the bigger vessel on the left, Tg. YKP Marine, which complete her last docking in October 2017 (11 months in the water) was already rusted. The exterior coating has already drop off and expose the underlying steel plate to the corrosive seawater. BMC™ is effective to protect the underlying steel plate from contact with the seawater and also to prolong the lifespan of the external epoxy and antifouling coating.
